Pressure Cook Bone Broth

Bone broth is like a warm hug for your insides, made by simmering animal bones (like chicken, beef, or pork) with herbs and veggies. It’s not just a trendy health elixir – it’s been around forever and is known for its nourishing and healing properties.

Ingredients

  • 2kg beef bones
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 head of garlic
  • thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 litres water

Instructions

  1. Begin by placing the beef bones on a roasting tray along with the carrot, onion, celery, and garlic. Roast in the oven at 200°C for 30 minutes, or until nicely browned.
  2. Transfer the roasted bones and vegetables to the cooker pan. Add in the thyme, bay leaf, peppercorns, salt, vinegar, and enough water to reach the maximum fill level. Secure the lid in place.
  3. Pressure cook on high for 2 hours to extract all the flavors from the ingredients.
  4. Once the cooking process is complete, allow the broth to cool to a safe temperature before straining it through a fine mesh sieve. Refrigerate overnight to allow any excess fat to solidify.
  5. Remove and discard the solidified fat layer before using the broth immediately or storing it in small airtight containers in the freezer for up to 1 month.
