Ingredients

For the Pastry:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4-5 tablespoons cold water

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup diced potatoes
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1 cup diced meat (beef, chicken, or your choice)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: herbs and spices (like thyme or rosemary)

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Do not overwork the dough.
  3. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix the diced potatoes, carrots, onions, and meat. Season with salt, pepper, and any herbs or spices you like.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 175°C (350°F).
  6. Roll out the pastry on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles (about 6-8 inches in diameter).
  7. Place a generous spoonful of filling on one half of each circle. Fold the other half over and crimp the edges to seal. You can use a fork to press down on the edges for a decorative touch.
  8. Lightly brush the pasties with oil or an egg wash for a golden finish.
  9. Place the pasties in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not overcrowded.
  10. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. You may need to flip them halfway through for even cooking.
  11. Let the pasties cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm!

💡 You can customize the filling based on your preferences or what you have on hand.

💡 If you want a vegetarian option, you can skip the meat and add more vegetables or cheese.
